Free, Prosperous & Resilient Pacific Communities
The Pacific Community (SPC)
The Safe Agricultural trade Facilitation through Economic integration in the Pacific (SAFE Pacific) project is an EU-funded project under its Pacific Regional Integration Support (PRISE) programme.
The SAFE Pacific project focuses on improving access to export, strengthening sustainable product value chains and market certification, improving compliance with international standards on trade, biosecurity and animal health, and supporting the implementation of the Economic Partnership Agreement between the European Union and the Pacific Island Countries (EU-Pacific States EPA). In addition, the project will enhance the capabilities of the target Pacific countries in terms of implementing biosecurity safeguards and contribute to the establishment of a Pacific Regional Pesticide Registration Scheme (PRPRS) to raise awareness on and regulate the use of pesticides, as well as animal production health and welfare improvement. The project will target increasing production and exports through improved compliance with international trade standards and by adopting approaches that foster greater production for domestic and regional markets.
Beneficiary countries: Fifteen Pacific-ACP (PACP) member states: Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Palau. Papua New Guinea, Republic of Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Timor Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
